Marston Vale

We were very fortunate to be joined at the Marston Vale Trust by Spectrum Recruitment since November 2011, and since then have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Suzanne, Layla, Kim, Judith, Kate and new addition Anthea. Spectrum committed to planting a tree for every person that they secured in employment in the local area, and so far we have planted countless trees at the Forest Centre

2014 they are planting over 66 trees in recognition of their candidates' successes.

How's that for innovation, regeneration and an environmental friendly way to celebrate!

Planting our Elm Tree

Planting an Elm tree at the Forest of Marston Vale site to mark the 25th Anniversary of Spectrum Recruitment

Returning elms to the Forest

Spectrum Recruitment celebrated 25 years of business in April 2013 by having an Afternoon Tea party at the Forest of Marston Vale.  As part of our celebrations, the Spectrum Team planted the first Elm tree at the Forest Centre and are proud to be involved in the reintroduction of Elms in the UK as below:

Fifty years ago the landscape of the Vale was very different. There were fewer houses, more brick works, fewer and smaller roads. There are more trees now but fewer are elms. The reason for that is the Dutch elm disease that killed more than 25 million elms in the UK, practically wiping out our elm population in two waves during the Twentieth Century. A mature elm is a big tree – tall and bulky. The loss of our population has made a large difference to the way the countryside looks.

Welcome to Kate James

Kate's introduction to her caring profession was as a carer providing nursing care to older people in a residential setting, moving on to supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, to adults with physical disabilities, she worked within these  areas for just over 5 years. She then transferred her skills and joined a dedicated team in a residential school for young boys/men with anti social behaviours who had pending court appearances; her role was largely in assessment and completed reports for their court attendance, such was her commitment to this type of work she was recognised by her line manager who awarded her further career opportunities and was offered  the position of deputy manager. She enjoyed this role and remained in post until she left the local authority to raise a family.
